The Welsh Liberal Democrats have urged new Plaid Cymru Leader Adam Price to commit to giving the people the final say and the opportunity to choose an Exit from Brexit.
All three Plaid Cymru leadership contenders made supportive statements about a People’s Vote during the campaign, but Plaid Cymru’s official policy on Brexit appears to still support leaving the EU but staying in the single market and customs union.
Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds commented:
I’d like to thank Leanne Wood for her years of service to Welsh politics and wish Adam Price the best of luck for the future.
Brexit is the defining issue of our generation. It will damage the Welsh economy, restrict opportunities and cut Wales off from the European neighbours we value so dearly. If Plaid really are the pro-European, internationalist and progressive party they claim to be, they’ll wholeheartedly endorse a People’s Vote.
Wales needs Plaid Cymru and Adam Price to unambiguously support giving the people the final say on Brexit. It is time for every individual and organisation opposed to Brexit to unite to secure an Exit from Brexit.
