The Welsh Liberal Democrats have today welcomed news that the MyTravelPass discounted bus travel scheme for younger people will be extended to include everyone aged 16 to 21 resident in Wales.
MyTravelPass was a Welsh Liberal Democrat policy that the party secured in budget negotiations in the previous Assembly term. The one-third discounted pilot offer began in 2015 and was eligible for 16-18 year olds. The scheme will now be extended to include 16-21 year olds.
Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds commented:
This is really exciting news and will be of great benefit to young people in Wales.
This is a Welsh Liberal Democrat policy that we secured as an opposition party in the National Assembly. I am pleased that, with Kirsty Williams now in government, this policy is being extended further.
Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesperson Baroness Jenny Randerson said:
Affordable public transport is key to enabling young people to access work, education, training and apprenticeships. That is why the Welsh Liberal Democrats made this policy a priority when in budget negotiations with the Welsh Government.
