Plans for the expansion of a coal mine in Wales could be approved soon despite pledges made by the UK Conservative Government at the Cop26 climate conference to move away from coal.
The UK Coal Authority is imminently expected to decide whether the conditions have been met to allow work to begin at a recently active deep-shaft site in Aberpergwm, Neath Valley, South Wales.
Not only would the opening of a new coal mine be a massive step backwards in our fight to stop climate change, but it could cause adverse health effects. The Government should be focusing on investing in South Wales to create jobs in the industry of the future, not an industry of the past.
Sign below & tell the Conservatives this simply isn't good enough and that they need to stop these plans immediately if we are to meet our climate goals!
