Following careful consideration of the latest health advice, and the recent decision to cancel our UK wide Conference, our Party Board has decided to postpone our upcoming spring conference which was scheduled to take place next weekend in Swansea.
It's not a decision that was taken lightly but given the recent developments around the spread of COVID-19, and taking into account new public health advice, we simply couldn’t carry on as planned without potentially endangering the health of everyone who would attend.
As part of our decision to postpone Conference, we have resolved to host a larger than normal Autumn Conference at the same venue later in the year - enabling continuity and bookings to be carried over seamlessly.
Anyone who has booked to come to Conference, whether they be Members, Supporters or Externals, will have their booking automatically transferred over to the new Conference as soon as a new date has been fixed.
We fully understand that for many people it will not be possible to cancel travel and accommodation or recover the costs but hope people will understand the priority being given to people's health and helping contain this damaging virus.
The Marriott Hotel has graciously agreed to cancel any existing accommodation bookings free of charge, enabling members to rebook for Autumn when a date has been fixed and we urge anyone who has booked elsewhere to get in touch with their provider and see what options are available.
We understand that not everyone may be able to make a later Autumn date, so refunds will be available for those who cannot or do not wish to carry over their booking.
We hope however, especially given the costs the party will have to incur to reschedule, that members who can afford it will be willing to waive the refund and consider it a donation to the party instead.
Details of how to reclaim registration fees will follow in the next week or two and as soon as a new date has been fixed this will also be communicated.
We once again apologies for any inconvenience but look forward to welcoming you to a bigger, more exciting and action-packed Conference later in the year, where we will be outlining our bold and ambitious vision for Wales’ future.
