Candidate for Brecon and Radnorshire
Jane was born and raised in Wrexham to a Welsh-speaking family, before moving to Powys and becoming an active member of the Welsh Liberal Democrat team in the region. She was selected as the Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate in 2019 following an all member ballot and has been the leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats since 2017.
Jane is a fully qualified social worker and before becoming leader she worked in the public sector for over 20 years as a child protection social worker. Because of her professional background, she cares deeply about the issues facing refugee children and child trafficking, has been a strong voice on them for years. Jane has also served as a local councillor, a school governor and she is a passionate advocate on the issues of homelessness, poverty and loneliness.
As a woman working in the public sector, Jane believes passionately in a parliament which is more representative of voters. Her background drives her commitment to deliver a society that protects those who are vulnerable and need our support. She is also incredibly passionate about Wales having strong links with the European Union and in opposing the rollout of Universal Credit across Wales.
