Jane Dodds, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, has re-iterated calls for the rollout of universal credit to be halted.
It comes as the Welsh Government has published analysis of the impact of the UK Government’s welfare reforms on households in Wales.
The Welsh Liberal Democrats have consistently warned that the Conservatives’ botched rollout of universal credit is risking homelessness and food poverty, and are campaigning to stop the rollout of universal credit.
Jane Dodds, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, commented:
“Focus on the impact of welfare reforms is much-needed so I welcome the fact these issues are being considered.
“As expected the analysis paints a very worrying picture, adding to the mounting evidence that the botched rollout of universal credit is leaving people using food banks and struggling to pay rent.
“This evidence needs to be acted on. Universal credit is bad for Wales and its rollout needs to be stopped. The Welsh Liberal Democrats demand better for Wales.”
