Welsh Liberal Democrats will keep working for a budget that works for Wales – Kirsty Williams

Following this afternoon's vote where the Welsh Government failed to gain adequate support for its draft budget, the Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Kirsty Williams, has said that her party will continue to work with parties on a budget that will deliver for Wales.

Kirsty Williams, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats said:

"We will redouble our efforts to ensure that Carwyn Jones lives up to the rhetoric of wanting to work with other political parties.

"We want a budget that will deliver the right spending priorities for Wales in the short and long-term

"We have told the Labour Government how we are willing to work with them and the ball is now clearly in their court. More money for children from poorer backgrounds to improve their education and life chances and money for skills to boost the economy, that is what Wales needs.

"Back in May, the Labour First Minister said that he will govern with no trace of political tribalism. This budget will be his first opportunity to prove that he is as good as his word."
