Black History Month

Today marks the beginning of Black History Month 2020.

It is no news to anyone that 2020 has, for a multitude of reasons, been a year of pain and suffering for our Black communities. From the tragedy and injustice of George Flloyd and the Black Lives Matter movement, to the many Black lives lost to COVID-19.

Black History Month is a time to focus our attention on the history and legacy of black communities across Wales. Each year it is an opportunity to acknowledge the role that black people have played in transforming the social, political and economic landscape of our country.

We intend to allow space this month, as we should strive to every month, to feature diverse voices and content from across the Black community in Wales and across the UK.

The Welsh Liberal Democrats will never be silent or indifferent in the face of discrimination. We are committed to fighting for a country where every person, regardless of their race, is able to live freely and fulfil their potential without fear of hate or prejudice.

We want to wish all the best to everyone working hard to make this month successful and engaging.
