Welsh Liberal Democrats leading the way on affordable housing

Ahead of a statement by the Minister for Housing and Regeneration on Low Cost Home Ownership to the Senedd this afternoon, it’s important to remember it is Welsh Liberal Democrat policies that are increasing affordable housing.

As part of the Progressive Agreement between Kirsty Williams and the First Minister, the Welsh Liberal Democrats secured an additional 20,000 affordable homes by 2021 and the introduction of a ‘Rent to Own’ housing scheme that allows buyers to rent a home they can later purchase.

Cllr Joe Carter, Welsh Liberal Democrat Housing Spokesperson commented:

Whilst there is clearly more that needs to be done to ensure everyone across Wales has access to affordable housing, it is right we recognise the positive difference Welsh Liberal Democrat policies are making.

Our ‘Rent to Own’ scheme and 20,000 additional affordable homes were two of our headline policies in 2016. I’m proud to see these policies in action, increasing the availability of affordable housing and giving everyone the opportunity to get on in life. It really is the Welsh Liberal Democrats that are leading the way on affordable housing in Wales.

Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Jane Dodds added:

Despite only having one Assembly Member, the Welsh Liberal Democrats continue to have a transformative impact on Wales. We continue to produce innovative policies like the ‘Rent to Own’ scheme, ideas which are benefiting Wales every day. Just imagine what difference we could make with more Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Members.
