Welsh Lib Dems Applaud Rejection of Brexit Deal

The Welsh Lib Dems have welcomed the National Assembly for Wales’ decision to pass a motion opposing the UK Government’s Brexit Deal that also calls for the extension of Article 50 and includes the option of a People’s Vote.

The motion passed with cross-party support. The motion reflects both the opposition to Theresa May’s deal and the differences in Brexit policies of those parties supporting the motion.

Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds commented:

I’m pleased to see the National Assembly for Wales has voted to oppose Theresa May’s Brexit deal and support an extension of Article 50 and the possibility of a People’s Vote.

There is no deal that could be better than our current deal with the EU. Theresa May’s Brexit deal and political declaration would leave the UK as rule-takers, not rule-makers whilst damaging the Welsh economy.

We’ve proudly led the fight for a People’s Vote for over two years because we know it’s the only solution to this Brexit crisis. The people must be given the final say and the opportunity to choose an Exit from Brexit.
