Tories will veer from the path of economic recovery – Jane Dodds

The Conservatives' economic plan will mean unnecessary cuts and the richest getting away without paying their fair share.

Jane Dodds, the Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for Montgomeryshire, said:

“The coalition’s joint record to balance the books and support business has put the economy on the road to recovery, created 2m more jobs, and delivered the fastest growing major economy in the world.

“The Conservatives are trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the British public by saying they will stay the course. The Tory plans drastically depart from the course set out by the coalition government. They have set out new plans to cut further and for longer than necessary, and are refusing to get the wealthiest in society to pay their fair share.

“Only the Liberal Democrats have set out a plan that stays the course, following the plans set out by the coalition in 2010. Our plan to balance the books by 2018 in a fair way is the only plan which really delivers on the hard work done over the last five years to rescue our economy.

“Both the Conservatives and Labour are veering from the path. The Liberal Democrats will borrow less than Labour and cut less than the Tories, and only we can ensure the next Government will build both a stronger economy and a fairer society.”
