Candidate for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr
Lesley Prosser has been a proud servant of her community in Carmarthenshire for over 30 years as a teacher, community organiser and mother. In her free time, she is an accomplished pianist and accompanist.
Lesley's teaching focused on nurturing and guiding pupils with educational challenges such as autism and dyslexia; she was instrumental in writing county-wide educational policies, and creating and leading specialist development units for students within Carmarthenshire. Lesley fully appreciates the importance of adequate education funding, and is deeply concerned about the impact of Brexit and a Conservative government on our young people and their future contributions to our communities.
Lesley emphatically supports the Welsh Liberal Democrats' policies to reduce class sizes, close the attainment gap and increase funding for pupils from the poorest backgrounds.
Lesley is also worried by the isolation of vulnerable and older people in our communities, and will ensure that their voices are heard in future debates about cuts to vital public services such as mental health and subsidised transport.
Lesley's first political experience was co-ordinating the Remain campaign in Llandeilo and surrounding areas where, despite disappointing results nationally, a majority chose to remain in the European Union. Lesley has since been active in local Liberal Democrat politics, representing the party in the May council elections as a local voice for inclusion, tolerance and liberal values.
