Jane Dodds' Speech to Liberal Democrat Conference

Jane Dodds has delivered her first speech to Liberal Democrat Conference as Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats. Jane discussed her Welsh, British, European and Internationalist identities and the Welsh Liberal Democrats' status as the only party clearly arguing for the people to have the final say and the opportunity to choose an Exit from Brexit.

Jane called on us to reach out and win over those who voted to leave because they felt let down and left behind by society. Jane called for the recreation of the welfare state envisaged by Beveridge a little over 75 years ago to ensure everyone enjoys a basic standard of living and receives a helping hand when they need it.

Jane highlighted the Welsh Liberal Democrats' commitment to the Swansea Tidal Lagoon and creating a green Welsh economy, alongside the fact we're the only party highlighting the epidemic of loneliness in Wales and leading the fight to end it.

Finally, Jane appealed for a Wales where everyone has the opportunity to achieve their potential and choose their own destiny. Jane demanded a free, fair and Liberal Wales.
