The Welsh Government has today announced that it will not make the HPV vaccination available to adolescent boys.
Commenting on the decision not to offer HPV vaccinations to adolescent boys, Welsh Lib Dem Equalities Spokesperson Cadan ap Tomos said;
“It is disappointing that we are not taking the opportunity now to protect adolescent boys against the risks of HPV and other cancers later on in life.
“All boys should be vaccinated on the same basis as their female peers to ensure the maximum protection, and make sure that gay and bisexual men aren't at a discriminatory risk of developing these cancers later on in life.
“This is a missed opportunity to improve the quality of people’s lives by improving preventative measures and, ultimately, to save lives.”
