Mark Williams highlights the benefit of Government’s childcare scheme on Welsh families

July 23, 2013 9:40 AM

Ceredigion's Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams has highlighted the positive impact the Government's new childcare scheme will have on families in Wales, in a debate in Parliament last week.

The scheme, announced by the Government earlier this year, will mean parents receive up to £1,200 per child in childcare costs. This will benefit around 2,200 working families in Ceredigion.

Commenting following the debate, Mark Williams said:

'This scheme will make a big difference to many families' finances, saving money on childcare and allowing parents the opportunity to work. This scheme will benefit around 110,000 families in Wales to the value of £1bn, and will ensure that it pays to work - rather than the current situation whereby many families have to spend a huge amount on childcare costs. This is good for families, and good for our economy.
