Media Officer

Media Officer (Band 2) for the

Welsh Liberal Democrat Group at the National Assembly for Wales

Salary range: £19,296 - £28,287 (Band 2)

(Please note that recruitment will normally be at the minimum of the range)

Working hours: 37 Hours

Location: National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff

The Welsh Liberal Democrat Group is seeking applications for the position of Media Officer to help maximise the impact of the Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Group in its communication with staff, Members and the wider public using the full range of communication tools as well as in broadcast, print and other media.

Main duties include:

  • Research, prepare and write press releases, statements to the media;

  • To liaise with AMs, their staff and group staff to identify any aspects of their work which may be of interest to the media and maintain a forward planning system to identify future communications activity;

  • To ensure full use of new media is made and that website, blog, video, picture and email content are developed;

  • To liaise with key stakeholders in coordinating the Group's communication strategy (including stakeholders within Westminster, Local Government, and at local party level).

Essential criteria include:

  • Experience of working effectively within the written press, broadcast or online industry, or public relations sector;

  • Knowledge and understanding of media handling techniques and delivering a communications plan;

  • Proven evidence of first class written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate the work of the group.

  • Ability to work flexibly on own initiative to tight deadlines
