Business Rates extension will take pressure of struggling companies across Wales- Parrott

December 6, 2011 4:47 PM

Eluned Parrott AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Business Minister, has welcomed that the Welsh Labour Government will emulate the UK Coalition policy of extending business rate relief for small businesses until April 2013. Welsh Labour's rate relief was to come to an end in October 2012.

Jane Hutt, Welsh Labour Government Finance Minister, announced the rate relief extension as she spoke in the budget debate that saw the Welsh Liberal Democrats and the Welsh Labour Government agree a budget for Wales.

Eluned Parrott AM, Shadow Business Minister said:

"I am very proud that we are playing a part in ensuring that small and medium sized companies in Wales will be given a further break in their business rates.

"For many small companies across Wales, this is an extra financial burden that can stifle their growth. We desperately need growth in our economy at the moment and I welcome the government's action in Wales."
