Kirsty Williams portrait Commenting on the appointment of the new Cabinet, Kirsty Williams, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats said:

"I congratulate all ministers on their appointment. The Welsh government has a serious task ahead to boost the economy across Wales and improve schools and NHS performance.

"The Welsh Liberal Democrats look forward to working with the new ministers where we can agree but we will be holding them to account too.

"It is of concern to me and many people working across rural Wales that agriculture and rural affairs is no longer seen as important enough to merit a cabinet position.

"It is also hard to see how a minister charged with sorting out the failings in regeneration and housing, which are substantial, will also have the time to give the arts and culture the focus and time they deserve."
