WASTE WATCHERS - Day 4

April 7, 2011 12:05 PM

Kirsty -pharmacy SwanseaThe Welsh Liberal Democrats will expose an example of the waste and inefficiency of Labour and Plaid Cymru in government on each day of the Welsh general election campaign

Last year, it was revealed that £50 million worth of medicine was being wasted in the Welsh NHS every year. Over 250 tons of out of date, surplus and redundant drugs are returned each year to pharmacies and GP surgeries.

Veronica German, Welsh Liberal Democrat South Wales East Assembly Candidate and Shadow Health Minister said:

"During the Welsh General Election Campaign the Welsh Liberal Democrats will expose examples of waste and inefficiency of the Labour-Plaid government during their four years in government.

"When every family, charity and business is having to make every pound stretch that little bit further, Wales needs a government that does the same. Labour and Plaid Cymru have made waste, incompetence and inefficiency into an art form."

"It is unacceptable that money is being wasted like this. Just this week, it was revealed that Welsh patients are losing out on vital cancer drugs when patients in England are being given these life saving drugs. I don't want Welsh patients to lose out because of Labour and Plaid Cymru's incompetence."

The Next Waste watchers will be rrevealed at noon tomorrow.
