Candidate for Carmarthen West & South Pembrokeshire
Alistair Cameron grew up and was educated in Pembrokeshire before going to Bristol University. He currently teaches English at a further education college.
He wants to abolish the Cleddau Bridge tolls which damage economic growth and supports the development of Trinity Saint David’s Carmarthen Centre.
He opposes the proposed merger of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion Councils but believes better services can be provided and money saved through the councils working closer together and sharing resources.
He is concerned about the impact of low farm gate prices and uncertainty over the Basic Payment Scheme which has put many farmers under pressure.
He believes the local health board needs to consider restoring a 24 hour paediatric service at Withybush Hospital and is concerned about pressures at Glangwili such as over physiotherapy.
He is also concerned about the impact of local government cuts such as the threat to the Avenue Centre in Tenby and the need to boost the income at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery.
