Aled Roberts, Welsh Liberal Democrats Shadow Education Minister, has sharply criticised the Welsh Government for its delay in progressing recommendations in the Review of Qualifications.
Commenting, Aled Roberts said:
"In November last year the Review of Qualifications was published and a recommendation was made that the Welsh Government should launch a "substantial, long-term, UK-wide communication strategy" in order to promote distinctly Welsh qualifications to prospective employers and educational institutions.
"I have already asked a number of questions regarding the detail of this proposed strategy, including what budgetary arrangements have been made to support the plan.
"In May, the former Education Minister stated that he would be considering a draft strategy produced by officials "over the coming days".
"However, after following up that response with a further question submitted last week, I am astonished to find that the Stakeholder Reference Group established to develop and implement the strategy hasn't even met yet to begin its discussions.
"The current Minister says he plans to publish a communication strategy in the autumn, but the lack of urgency from this Welsh Government is beyond belief.
"In the meantime, teachers, pupils and the whole education sector face yet another unacceptable period of uncertainty."
