Following the close of nominations for candidates for the 2017 Local Government elections it was revealed that 92 seats will be uncontested in May.
Commenting on the number of uncontested seats in the Local Government elections, a spokesperson for the Welsh Liberal Democrats said;
“We’re facing a crisis in our democracy in Wales. We need a real shake up in local government that gives people a real choice over who represents them in their county and city halls.
“In May, in 92 communities across Wales, people will be denied the right to vote for who will represent them for the next five years. It simply isn’t good enough.
“The Welsh Liberal Democrats will continue to demand voting reform until power is put back into the hands of the people."
